Another Leading Woman! Stacey Griffin, a female business owner, in uptown New Orleans and clinical social worker. Stacey graduated from Tulane School of Social Work 10 years ago and opened her psychiatric facility 7 years ago. Stacey worked hard to build her business and then lost it to Katrina. Over the past year, Stacey has rebuilt her business. It is stronger than ever serving children in the New Orleans area with severe psychiatric illness (homicidal and suicidal). During this past year, Stacey was also able to acquire accreditation for her facility from an international accrediting body. In addition, Stacey has found an exciting new company a few months ago, to have as a "plan B", given how quickly the psychiatric facility was wiped out last year from Katrina (in preparation for any future disasters). This company started as an idea Stacey had; to improve her child's life---creating a juice box filled with 100% pure water. Stacey worked diligently on the project the past 4 months--usually in the very early morning hours (3:30am-7:30am) before her 3 year old woke up and her day as the owner of a psychiatric facility and "mom" began. The product was manufactured and Stacey is working hard to make it available at select stores all over the country! She is also currently in contact with several companies for national distribution! The product is called AQUA2GO and is being marketed to people of all ages. By using aseptic packaging and a reverse osmosis process, there is a 5 year shelf life and a guarantee of 100% purified water. Stacey says no one can say that the spirit of a New Orleaneans has been broken...on the contrary, I am more motivated than ever to make both companies succeed. Stacey has decided to give a percent of the profit from AQUA2GO sales to a hurricane assistance program here in the South. By telling her story, Stacey hopes it can serve to motivate and encourage others in devastated areas and/or moms who want to work! Stacey Griffin----social worker, administrator, mom, wife and now the owner of lots of water boxes.
